5.0 out of 5 stars "We clean the scene and get rid of the body.” By Grady HarpHALL OF FAMETOP 100 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on January 4, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase California author Jack Dancer pounced onto the literary scene with DETOUR PARIS that was just the opening of a Trilogy - Detour Paris, Detour Allure, and Detour Amour - inspired by an actual mid-life dating adventure. He lives in southern California, though he hails from Florida. A former advertising executive he seems to have discovered solid ground in writing romance novels with the male perspective. Not that women will not devour these hot and steamy romances, but it is refreshing to have them come from a man’s vantage – life from the POV of a midlife divorced man! Now with DETOUR AMOUR (Book 3 in the Trilogy) Jack manages to weave new problems and situations around his established characters from Books 1 and 2 while introducing some very fascinating new people onto the stage.
If you’ve not read Book 1 DETOUR PARIS and Book 2 DETOUR ALLURE, then DO! The story is so well put together that not knowing some of the characters intimately from the first story may leave a few questions. But whatever you may have missed in Books 1 and 2 Jack more than makes up for in this thundering steamy naughty adventure romance. Once you’ve read Jack Dancer he becomes addicting.
As usual he offers a description of the story at the outset – a teaser, if you will. ‘The final detour . . .and the third book of the Detour Paris trilogy. Detour Amour marks Tucker Blue’s rise from the ashes to win the day and rescue the woman he loves, and lives happily ever after. But is that what really happens? One thing’s for sure. Tucker’s been pushed too far this time, and he’s pissed. He’s out not only to rescue his love but to destroy his enemies. Not just destroy. Annihilate. Tucker Blue is a man with nothing to lose and everything to gain and that makes him the most dangerous man, there is. But Tucker’s not a fighter or a soldier. He’s a love and an advertising man. Guns and bombs and karate chops are not his expertise, and he can’t advertise them to death. Or can he? Tucker Blue’s a creative guy, and he’s on a mission; bound and determined to rescue his princess at any cost, except style. It’ll have to be ingenious; no force, no violence, most important no mercy. Can he do it? And if he can, is it for love or is it for money? A hundred twenty million euros can buy a lot of love. But does it?’
It is little wonder Jack Dancer has found so many devotees – he has found a niche no one else occupies and he occupies it completely. Pure entertainment - on many levels!
5.0 out of 5 stars "Another Awesome Installment" By LunarK9 on January 6, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Do I read romance? Definitely not but well, I do read the Jack Dancer books because they're more than that. It's written from a guy's point a view and while it has romance, it also has action and thrills like more a James Bond feel than a guy on the cover with his shirt ripped off.
Detour Amour: Detour Paris Series Book 3 is the third book I've read from Jack Dancer and I enjoyed them all, including this one.
If you've read the first two then you'll love this one just as much. The action was even more intense and the “romance” was off the charts. In this installment, Tucker is really out to get his enemies because hey, once you've been pushed too far – that's it – and that's what makes this one really awesome.
Hey, at least I don't have to admit to liking romance or I at least have an excuse for doing so.
5.0 out of 5 stars "Great writing and this series is one that will go far in the romance world with it's unique tale!" By Sierra Klein on January 6, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase Now this was interesting to me as this is a romance novel told through the point of view from a MAN! This was good....almost TOO good of a book! This was inspired by an actual mid-life dating adventure which makes it even more fascinating! I have read the first two books, if you’ve not read Book 1 DETOUR PARIS and Book 2 DETOUR ALLURE, then please take it up on yourself to indulge! You will not be disappointed! Great writing and this series is one that will go far in the romance world with it's unique tale!
5.0 out of 5 stars I can easily see why it is a reader fav By Andrea Smith on January 16, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase I found myself questioning the scene unfolding in the opening chapter. Not that it distracted from the story it just felt the conversation was lost on me. That would have helped with understanding character development. Then it dawns on me this is the third book in the series and I should have started at the beginning. Tucker Blue is trying to rescue the woman he loves from the evil Drusilla who has a lot of power and a cold heart. She is notorious for her malicious acts. There is also a lottery ticket involved to secure her safety. What was clear that Blue is an honorable man with flaws and that he can depend on Pat and Speed. As for Monica and Nanette I knew one or both were shady because they used their feminine wiles to scam men. Even after I found out that the Princess did not have good intentions. I had to agree with her that, "a woman’s looks doesn’t matter. Every woman possesses a power to make men fall in love. It’s just that some women are skillful in applying them." As for dear Tucker perhaps his idea of romance is having two women. It’s been done before and after reading the conclusion, you can see why.
5.0 out of 5 stars Detour Amour- The Final Mind-blowing and Outrageous Sequel to the Detour Series By Sheryl on January 15, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Detour Amour the final novel of the Detour trilogy is indeed a man's novel. The first two novels had worked on shaping up the protagonist's character so that here he is finally revealed in all his avatar- the charismatic, passionate, sexy, angry and a highly focused man who is not afraid to fight the forces to get back his life and his lady love. It is a fast paced highly tensed book with both Tucker and his enemies bent on a mission to destroy one another. There are unimaginable twists and turns which ensures that the readers are hooked to the book while intermittent humor tries to lighten the tension. The build up to the climax is intense.
The book is complete in itself and even a first time reader of the Detour series would have little difficulty in following the story line. However, it is recommended that they read the first two books to heighten the pleasure.
As a woman I found his sexual adventures in some bad taste especially when his lady love is in danger, but, I think men would love that angle especially when he does not purposefully seek those adventures and it is the women who seem to throw themselves on him. In fact, speaking of romances the majority of them are written by and for women and they basically revolve around emotions, but, here is a romance that is written by a man with a target on men readers so the story has been put on a fast tract with lots of immediate dangers and threats and evil enemies who would not hesitate to use the most cruel resources. Detour Amour is an outstanding piece of fiction and deserves several repeated readings.
This is the last book in the series Detour Amour, a trilogy written by Jack Dancer which caught my attention and which I have enjoyed from beginning to end. To begin with, what I liked was that it is written in a male perspective, we usually read romance novels from a woman’s perspective or the narrator is omniscient; this is why I think this book is special. We expect a happy ending with a “they live happily ever after” idea; well the ending is more than just happiness. I was surprised and amazed by its ending. From my perspective, the best in the series! Tucker will rescue the woman he loves; he will do everything possible to do that. If that’s not love, what is it then?
I am eager to keep on reading novels written by Jack Dancer. I would definitely recommend reading this trilogy. Love, passion, revenge and suspense; I read the story at the edge of my seat!
4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Ending for a Great Series By Ashley on January 15, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Detour Amour: Detour Paris Series Book 3 by Jack Dancer is the thrilling conclusion of the Detour Paris series. Once again we follow the exploits of Tucker—both the action-based ones and the love-based ones—as he tries to survive what was supposed to be a relaxing European vacation with his flight attendant girlfriend at the beginning of the first book in the series, Detour Paris. Add to that overseas getaway several kidnappings, more than a few murders of both friends and enemies, and a fair number of sexual exploits, and we arrive at the beginning of Detour Amour. Tucker, with a different gal pal than he started with and a mysterious winning European lottery ticket that every deranged villain on the continent seems to want, is just trying to make it out of Europe alive. As you can see from the plot, this book is just as interesting as the first two, and just as well-written, so anyone who has read the first two books should feel no fear about reading this third book. Also, anyone interested in thrillers, romances, and the combination thereof should definitely consider reading this whole series. Great books!
This book is not your typical romance novel, but you will fall in love with it. An exciting and fun love story told from the male perspective is just what the romance genre needed. In Detour Amour, author Jack Dancer offers us a realistic and thrilling story that is not just well written, but filled with memorable and relatable characters, accurate and descriptive details, and a story line that certainly keeps readers engaged and entertained. Main character Tucker is a man that could melt the ice from any frozen heart, and he does it with a quick wit, sharp tongue, and the kind of all-consuming love and devotion that many women can only dream of finding. Dancer is a gifted writer, and though I have not yet read the first two books in this trilogy, Detour Paris, I will definitely be reading them soon.
4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Cap on the Series By Veritas Vincit on January 15, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Having read the other Detour Paris books, I was pleased to see this third installment come out, and as expected, it was another racy and amusing escapade full of witty one-liners, hard-nosed criminals, and a man with something to lose (who acts like he doesn't). It was pulp action and dialogue of the very highest caliber, and while it is certainly not high literature, it entertained the hell out of me. The action-packed fight scenes and subtle furtive conspiracies seem perfectly crafted for a cinematic thrill ride, but it's somehow even more powerful on the page. There were a number of sections throughout that seemed to lag, as though the author wasn't sure where to go next, how to finish a conversation, or how to create believable interactions between characters, but these stumbles are forgivable, as most of what Tucker Blue does is undeniably cool, calculated, and courageous.
He has this deeply romantic side, where he's willing to give up his life to protect what he cherishes most, but also this Rambo-esque side that comes out and kicks butt when he needs to. He is an action hero for the everyman, and a very well-developed character, as this entire series has shown.
4.0 out of 5 stars This is the best of the three books By quirru on January 19, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Detour Amour by Jack Dancer, the last book of a series of three, is like the continuum of the first and second books. Again I felt that the way it is written is purely the way a man thinks, never in my life I would have thought like that, and that is what make so interesting the book, a little weird but finally a thriller. A book full of turns and surprises, of strange ideas that find their way to reality and make you want to read more. The sex scenes are very explicit, which I don’t like but then again they are a part of the plot and not just only sex scenes, so I think is just a matter of taste. Is a book to read when you have a little more time than just an evening or an afternoon, it needs more time than that. It made my weekend; I was very pleased when I finished reading the book. You should read it and if you haven’t read the other two, start with them.
Apart from the romance, the novel contains a little bit of action and suspense. The plot has everything needed to be appealing and characters are developed in a way that seem realistic, though I would have enjoyed a little bit more character development. Another thing that would be nice is proofreading as there are some punctuation marks that I felt odd and uncomfortable.
All in all, I would recommend this reading to those who enjoy a romance story with a little bit of action. Men should give it a chance as well!
4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the faint of heart... By vh on January 13, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase This book is very intense. After you get past the fact that there are dozens of characters to keep together, you realize the plot is insane. There are so many different things going on that Tucker Blue has to keep going, and keep straight in his head, all while possibly spending time with a murderer. I enjoyed reading about his life, and the ending was surprising, although it was also a bit expected. He doesn’t seem to have the best luck. In any case, this is a thriller that is also rather funny, especially when Tucker learns the truth about everything. It makes you not want to fly, that’s for sure, although I am pretty sure that wasn’t the intention of the writer. I didn’t read the first two books yet, but I feel like I have a good understanding of everything anyway, since most of it was reiterated in this book.
I like to play the field when it comes to novels and seeing a romance novel written by a man was something that struck my fancy (considering this genre is largely dominated by women). I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started it, but was pleasantly surprised when I got into the plot.
The main character is someone who I’d love to meet, to be honest. His dedication to saving the love of his life is refreshing and made for a great story. I can’t wait to see if this series is taken further.
One of the things I loved about this book is the descriptors for the action sequences. They create vivid pictures which truly brings the story to life.
I’d recommend this to anyone that loves romance, but also those looking for a refreshing book in this genre.
4.0 out of 5 stars Charming and Daring Tucker Blue Does it Again By John J. Staughton on January 13, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Tucker Blue has become one of the more fascinating characters I've discovered in the past year, and while his classification as being "rough around the edges" is well deserved, at least he's never boring. In this third installment, when we thought that things might settle down for him, he is once again dragged into a massive conflict where everyone is suspect and most people want to kill him. Swearing revenge and acting out with brutal precision the steps he needs to take to secure his safety and the safety of the ones he loves....it's admirable to say the least, but it could also get boring. In the first two books, there were moments where my mind wandered, and I could tell that Dancer was grasping for straws a bit in the plot, but in this book, I didn't feel that same sophomoric struggle. He knew his character inside and out, and was prepared to tell the whole story from top to bottom. This was laser-focused, fun-filled, and emotionally impactful in a way that some of the others didn't hit me. A great new read for some escapist action with a powerful male protagonist that you can't help but envy at times.
The Spanish prisoners scam team’s kidnapping: the hostages and captors- who are the criminals? Are the innocent, innocent?
The fight attendant team‘s kidnapping got entangled with other criminal events, causing a chain of unforeseen events and uncertainties;
The relationship between the protagonists Tucker and Monica show the power of a woman. Who are they in reality? Again the power of lust and possession and the hunt for the prize prevails. Who is Tucker and what becomes of him?
The evil power of Drusilla. Does evil prevail?
Money is a driving force behind persons committing crime.
Confusion and peril is a result of evil and maybe ignorance, while protagonists who trust their logic, fall into trouble. Undercover strategies are developed organically by the skillful author. The surprise element is kept awake. The reader is never sure which players’ involvement are fake or real, with whom they partner and how the scam works.
Dancer has a few golden threads spun into this trilogy and gives his reader a bunch of characters, each holding a golden tread, while he mingles identities and events. Who knows how actions will play out? Truth and fake gets entangled and evil is exchanged for good and good for evil diverting the characters into a messy chaos, building mystery and suspense with mistaken identities and objectives, where victim is the enemy and perpetrator is seen as victim with unexpected results.
A book difficult to disentangle and a talented author.
4.0 out of 5 stars "A Good Finale" By Amanda on January 6, 2016 Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase ‘Detour Amour’ is the third and final book in the Detour trilogy. I enjoyed the other two books, and this one wasn’t much different. In this book we follow Tucker as he gets chased again. He has to save the girl again.
I didn’t love this book. It was well written, and interesting to read from a male perspective, however, I didn’t get much into the actual story in this novel. I had a hard time throughout the series getting into the male perspective being as I do not have a male perspective. I liked it well enough. I would suggest this to anyone who enjoyed the other books. I would also suggest this to anyone interested in a male perspective “romance” type novel.
4.0 out of 5 stars "Great finale!" By JA Armstrong on January 7, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase The third and final installment in this unusual Romantic trilogy, finds our main Guy: Tucker again (or still?) in some steamy, exciting and dangerously mysterious situations. Tucker is still trying to unravel the who, what and how’s of the recent events he has undergone (please read the first two books or you might be a little lost at first), but we are soon right in the swing of things again and this time Tucker is taking charge and not just hiding out.
The Romance (after divorce) from a Guys Point of View is pretty interesting. Don’t look for page long anecdotes about a guys pectorals, this book, is straight to the point but still manages to leave some mysteries and humor to give this book a interesting twist on it all. I enjoyed reading the final installment after reading the first two, since it did close up loose ends and answer some questions I had about certain ladies involvement amongst things…
4.0 out of 5 stars Good ending to the series! ByMarsha Allen on January 8, 2016 Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase Detour Amour: Detour Paris Series Book 3 by Jack Dancer is the final installment in this series. If you have NOT read the first two books, I would recommend that you do so prior to reading this one because you will not know what is going on at all if you don’t. Very much like the other books, there is plenty of action and lots of steamy sex scenes. The series are romance novels as seen from the man’s point of view, so that is quite different from the normal books. I do recommend the series, but just a warning that some of the scenes can be quite graphic! Enjoy!
