Detour Paris Series Synopses
DETOUR PARIS SERIES BOOK #1
Detour Paris (Rated R for mature readers—language, sex and violence.)
"Detour Paris, by Jack Dancer, is a laugh-out-loud romance with a dollop of intrigue."
When Tucker Blue meets Monica Reyes, there’s a spark. Tucker has recently reentered the dating world, and he’s discovering that the life of a mid-life bachelor is equally exciting and complicated. He’s about to fly to Barcelona with Ebba, his flight attendant girlfriend. However, a last-minute passenger kicks Tucker off the plane, and now he and Monica are stranded together in the US.
Tucker concocts a crazy idea of catching a flight to London and then taking trains to Barcelona. Even though his girlfriend is waiting for him in Barcelona, Tucker can’t deny his attraction to Monica, and he’s not shy about his desires.
Travel, though, always presents difficulties. Tucker’s hope for a romantic adventure through scenic France is beset with one problem after another.
Detour Paris, the first book in the trilogy, definitely ticks all the right boxes. It’s funny, sexy, packed with adventure and mishaps, and there’s a subplot that is suspenseful and keeps the reader glued to the pages.
Tucker’s mission to seduce Monica may not appeal to all readers. Yet, the author handles the subject matter well, making it palatable to most. Tucker isn’t the typical dashing and debonair main character one meets in romantic suspense novels. He’s older, a tad awkward, quite funny, and flawed, refreshingly so.
“I’ve not only been around the block more than once; I’ve been kicked around the block, a couple of times. Been married more than once, raised children, more than one. Even created businesses. Destroyed ‘em too.”
Tucker can be crude and endearing in equal measure. He’s an original character with a typical male desire. At times he can be frustrating when he thinks things like this:
“Still, these are only words; women say them all the time. They’re simply meant to project some illusion of propriety but what they really mean is: keep working on it; I’ll eventually give in.”
What helps the reader like Tucker is his sense of humor. He delivers one great line after another and his love interest, Monica, holds her own and dishes it right back. Their repartee keeps the reader coming back for more. Even though Tucker seems controlled by sexual cravings, surprisingly he doesn’t come off completely as a jerk. Actually, there are moments when he seems like a nice guy.
The sexual tension and scenarios will keep the interest of many readers. I won’t say if Tucker succeeds completely in his mission to sleep with Monica, but I will say that many of the scenes are smoking hot. The pages are filled with humorous romps that will get the reader’s heart pumping.
The ending is abrupt with little resolution. This is a gamble since some readers don’t take to such drastic and deliberate cliffhangers. However, it’s a great way to encourage readers to pick up the next book in the series, and it’s hard to imagine many will be able to resist.
Detour Paris has a lot going for it. The story is fast-paced, sexy, entertaining, and intriguing. Highly recommended."

DETOUR ALLURE: Detour Paris Series Book #2
Detour Allure (Rated R for mature readers—language, sex and violence.)
"Detour Allure: Detour Paris Series Book 2, by Jack Dancer, is an action-packed adventure with numerous twists and turns that’ll make the reader’s head spin.
Book two picks up right where book one left readers hanging.
Monica and Tucker are coming to terms with their situation. To complicate matters, their budding relationship is being pulled in many different directions by their friends, enemies, and some unknown sources.
Insecurities arise. Two of their companions are missing. Tucker doesn’t know who to trust or what’s going on. Then something awful happens. Can Tucker pull himself together to save the day?
This is a difficult novel to summarize. Once you pull on one thread, you quickly find yourself entangled in a dangerous mess. That’s part of the fun of Dancer’s series so far. There is so much going on, mostly unbelievable, yet at the same time it seems very believable, adding a terrifying factor to the experience.
Just like the first book in the series, Detour Allure introduces several twists and turns and it’s nearly impossible to keep track of everything that has happened and to guess what will happen next. The levels of suspense are complicated, multi-layered, and delightfully maddening. As I frantically flipped the pages, each new thrilling addition made sense, but there were so many it was hard to keep up and at times I had to set the book aside to catch my breath. The only way to explain the story is to say: read the book to find out firsthand what kind of wild and crazy ride Tucker is on. More than likely you won’t regret it.
One aspect that has changed from the first book is Tucker’s likability. In Detour Paris, Tucker was a cad, but in an endearing way. In this book, he’s still a cad, but it’s harder to justify his actions. Women especially may dislike and question Tucker’s motives and sincerity. For guys, Tucker may become their hero. This story is filled with one sexual encounter after another. At times, these scenes distract from the overall story: the missing companions, the mysterious lottery ticket, and the threat to Tucker’s and Monica’s safety.
Dancer ends the story right when he introduces the biggest twist of the series and to be honest, it’s nearly impossible to guess what’s going to happen. But I know I can’t wait to find out. It’s extremely rare to come across a series and to have absolutely no idea where the final installment is heading. It’s amazing that Dancer was able to come up with everything. And it makes me wonder just how much he has to give in the final installment in the series. If this book is any indication, it’s only going to get more insane and intense, which is a plus.
It should be noted that there are violent and detailed torture scenes and references to rape and sexual exploitation that may be upsetting for some readers. This book is intended for adults who can stomach the dark side of human nature."

DETOUR AMOUR:
Detour Paris Series Book # 3
(Rated R for mature readers—language, sex and violence.)
"Detour Amour, by Jack Dancer, is the stunning conclusion to the Detour Paris series.
Tucker Blue is not playing Mr. Nice Guy anymore. The woman he loves is still being held captive and his enemies have pushed him too far. Tucker wants to destroy them, but he’s an advertising guy, not Rambo.
Tucker turns to unconventional means to out his nemesis in an attempt to rescue his princess. Will his plan work? And at what cost?
The main ingredients of the series thus far has been humorous unpredictability and crazy escapades. This series is creative, entertaining, and cringe-worthy. After book two, I had no idea what to expect in the third and last novel. The question I posed in the second review was how much was left in Dancer’s creative tank?
As it turns out my worry was completely unnecessary. Dancer threw everything in the book, including the proverbial kitchen sink and Japanese Giant Hornets, which spray flesh-melting poison. Tucker isn’t kidding when he says he wants to destroy his enemies.
And his enemies are doing everything they can to annihilate Tucker. Both sides have declared all out war. The question is: who will be the last one standing?
One tense scene after another makes for exciting reading. Fans of spy thrillers that include lots of kick-ass gadgets, vehicles, and nerdy guys behind the scenes will really enjoy the James Bond aspects of Detour Amour.
The buildup to the grand showdown between the Raven and Tucker includes just the right doses of humor, suspense, and twists and turns. By the time the reader reaches the final chapters it’s hard to know what’s going to happen and the pages fly by in a blur.
And just when you think that Dancer doesn’t have any more tricks up his sleeve, there’s at least one more plot twist that’s surprising. Is Detour Amour really the end of the Tucker Blue saga or will the hapless cad return in future novels?
Like the previous two books, this novel is aimed towards a male audience. The author isn’t shy about allowing the men in his novels to misbehave. The majority of the naughty behavior is typical of the genre, such as blowing things up and sleeping with beautiful women.
Overall all, Detour Amour, is a heart-stopping and thrilling end to the series.
Please note there are graphic scenes of violence, including physical and sexual, that some readers may find upsetting."
